Allowed traffic types

  • On peering LAN, we allow only the following Ethernet frames:
    • 0x0800 - IPv4
    • 0x0806 - ARP
    • 0x86dd - IPv6
  • By default, only one MAC address is allowed per port. If you need an additional MAC address, please send us an email with a described request.
  • No Proxy ARP is allowed on a peering LAN
  • No broadcast is allowed except for ARP packets
  • No link-local traffic is allowed:
    • ICMP redirects
    • IEEE 802 Spanning Tree
    • Vendor proprietary protocols. These include, but are not limited to:
      • Discovery protocols: CDP, LLDP, and etc
      • VLAN/trunking protocols: VTP, DTP
      • IGP routing protocol broadcasts: ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, IGRP
      • BOOTP/DHCP packets
      • PIM protocol packets
      • L2 packets for loop detection
      • ICMPv6 ND-RA
  • No local or direct broadcasts are allowed
  • Inter-IX peering LAN prefix shouldn't be advertised to other networks
